Patrick Rooney
President and Chief Executive Officer
Patrick Rooney joined us at Navarik in the spring of 2006 as President and CEO, a position he formerly held at rail industry innovator Kelsan Technologies Corp., which he had led from an early stage through a five-year growth phase. Previously, Patrick was Director of Supply and Distribution at Viridian Inc. (formerly Sherritt Inc., and now part of Agrium), a publicly traded fertilizer company where he managed supply and distribution activities and facilities globally. In addition to his time with that major commodities firm, Patrick has extensive business and legal experience in joint ventures, technology transfers, and mergers and acquisitions, including several years with the law firm of McCarthy Tetreault in Toronto. He is a former member of the Board of the British Columbia Technology Industry Association. Patrick has a Master of Laws degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science in England.
William Cyr
Chief Financial Officer & Chief Operating Officer
William Cyr came to Navarik in the summer of 2006 as Chief Financial officer after four years at Kelsan Technologies, where he was Vice-President Finance, CFO, and Vice-President Operations, working for Patrick Rooney. In 2009 William took on the additional role of Chief Operating Officer at Navarik. Previously, William spent four years as Vice-President Finance of Xantrex Technology Inc., one of the world's leading manufacturers of power conversion equipment, where he managed the financial affairs of the company, including raising equity capital, financial planning and reporting. He also served as CFO of Knowledge Junction Systems Inc., a startup company developing guided selling software. William has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia and earned a Chartered Accountant designation, where he placed in the top 10% in Canada while working as an accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers for 12 years.
Roy Heaton
Vice-President, Products
Roy Heaton joined Navarik in early 2007 as VP Products to lead the engineering efforts on Navarik’s products. Roy has extensive expertise in project management, team development, software development and system design. Roy has worked in software environments that varied from safety critical software to PC software to web application software for such companies as: SXIP Networks, Corel, XCert, Alcatel and IBM. He has proven abilities in the management of software and engineering projects across a wide range of industries. Roy has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Warwick and earned a Masters of Science from Southampton University.
Anita Carew
Vice-President, Services & Product Management
Anita Carew joined Navarik in 2008 as VP of Professional Services and in 2010 took on the additional responsibility of Product Management. Anita is responsible for overseeing client management, the implementation of Navarik systems for customers, the provision of ongoing support to users and the negotiation of service agreements as well as product management for the Navarik Platform. Anita brings 20 years of experience in software product companies in professional services, management, consulting, training and support. Anita has extensive experience in project management, with a focus on large implementations and account management. She most recently comes from CA Canada Inc and previously worked for International Decision Systems as the Manager of Professional Services, overseeing all consulting and implementation projects and staff in the central and southeast United States. Anita is PMP certified, a Six Sigma green belt and graduated from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in Financial Management Technology.
Alex Murray
Vice-President, Business Development
Alex Murray joined Navarik in 2005 in an advisory role focusing on the expansion of Navarik’s software solutions for the oil industry. He now has the position of Vice President of Business Development, leading the Navarik team in international sales of Navarik Platform products and driving industry commitment to employ future products. Previously, Alex spent a decade working exclusively in the oil and gas industry. His experience originates from working onboard crude carriers as an engineer before making a transition into a shore based position within commercial operations for Teekay Shipping. While at Teekay, Alex’s responsibilities included designing and overseeing various vessel-based technology solutions, which enabled him to transition his career focus from engineering to information technology.
