Open Standards
Our products have been developed using proven, open, industry-standard technologies for developing software and for collecting, storing, manipulating, presenting, and exchanging information, including:
- The Apache web server.
- The PostgreSQL relational database management system.
- PHP and Python development languages.
- XML (extensible markup language) data-exchange format.
and widespread Internet standards including:
- XHTML (extensible hypertext markup language).
- JavaScript/ECMAScript.
- Cascading style sheets (CSS).
- The combination of those standards with browser-based tools in Ajax, a modern method of developing web-based software applications.
We have taken this approach because we believe strongly that our customers should be able to work with their data easily now and in the future, and that using Internet standards helps users with any modern device that can connect to the Internet do their work more effectively.
Moreover, using established standards means that our customers' information is not locked into formats defined by any one manufacturer, and can move when needed to newer platforms and applications over time. Those same standards make exchanging data between Navarik systems and both existing and legacy IT systems easier, today and tomorrow.
