Navarik can provide live online demonstrations of our systems to you on request.
Navarik provides mapping services, both as part of our systems and as separate web applications, to display the position of vessels inside secure web workspaces that are available to authorized users anywhere in the world.
Positional information comes directly from the ships at sea, which collect it using Inmarsat polling.
In 2005, Navarik began deploying mapping services for our customers, including an updated module for Cargo Watch for Petro-Canada to include a new mapping component, as well as an independent project to generate maps from XML data for Hawknet in the U.K.
We have used a mapping engine provided by Demis in the Netherlands. Positional information comes directly from the ships at sea, which collect it using Inmarsat polling or other GPS-based methods.
Position data points collected on the chartered vessels are sent to shore via Inmarsat transmission and converted to XML (eXtensible Markup Language) text files, which the mapping web server interprets and converts into images that can be viewed in a standard web browser as part of Cargo Watch or another mapping interface. Our customers then have not only an easy visual representation of the positions and movements of ships, but also an auditable log of vessel positions.
Navarik is also working with AISLive (a partnership between Lloyd’s Register–Fairplay and the HITT Group) to receive positional information from a network of global AIS transponders via a web service. That generates position and movement activity in relative real time at Petro-Canada's Montréal and Burrard Terminals.
