Shell Navarik™
Shell Navarik is a web-based system that provides electronic data capture for Shell offices and ports around the world, involving shipping agents, cargo inspectors, and Shell staff.
It allows data tracking and reporting for both crude oil tankers and petrochemical product barges.
Simplifying information exchange for crude oil shipments worldwide
Shell Trading's headquarters in London and Houston helped Navarik develop the Shell Navarik system to simplify data entry and information exchange by:
- Collecting information from shipping agents and cargo inspectors.
- Helping standardize the assignment of inspectors to cargoes.
- Making accounting procedures more efficient.
- Improving data tracking and reporting for cargo voyages.
Deployed early in 2004 for crude tanker voyages coordinated by Shell Trading's U.K. office, then expanded to handle barge-based oil and products voyages run by the U.S. office headquartered in Houston, the Shell Navarik system has several thousand users worldwide, and processes data from dozens of crude oil shipments each day.

By integrating voyage updates into Shell's overall petroleum and petrochemical trading infrastructure, the Shell Navarik system helps automate the company's voyage management, customer reporting, and vendor performance analysis.
