Navarik staff traveling worldwide
Monday, September 27th, 2004

A number of Navarik staff members are away from our Vancouver offices, working at or visiting client sites and conferences around the world. Shipping is a worldwide business, and despite the ease with which Internet and telephone communications allow us to work together, there is often no substitute for meeting in person.

Navarik employees are now in three separate locations, nearly as far apart as they can be on the globe:

  • In August, Navarik business development specialist Hina Wafai began a six-month residency with one of our major shipping carrier customers in Oslo, Norway. Hina is helping bring various IT components from many different vendors, including Navarik, into a single system, which will eventually manage all of the client’s ships, voyages, and accounts.
  • Our creative director, Dave Shea, is a renowned expert in the field of standards-based web design. In his other role as principal of Bright Creative, Dave is one of the key presenters at Web Essentials ‘04 in Sydney, Australia.
  • Navarik’s president Bill Dobie and staffer Kevin Mueller are spending three weeks circling the world, visiting Hong Kong, Frankfurt, and London to discuss current and future projects. Bill and Kevin are also likely to make a stop to meet Hina in Oslo before returning to Canada.

Closer to home, Navarik staff member and editor Derek Miller is running a workshop about editing with Microsoft Word for the Professional Editors’ Association of Vancouver Island in Victoria, B.C. on October 2.
